Is Ford still going to make cars?
Ford is having a big shakeup to its automotive lineup in the coming years. Is Ford still going to make cars? We can actually answer that question as we take a look at the evolving strategy for the future of the Ford brand.
Which models is Ford discontinuing in the United States?
Ford has recognized a crossover and truck heavy trend in the United States as have many other auto manufacturers, but Ford is taking matters into their own hands and severely revising its lineup in the coming years.
Ford is eliminating all cars from its lineup gradually over the next few years. This means the Fiesta, Focus, Fusion, and Taurus are getting discontinued in the United States. With that said, the Focus will actually be re-introduced here as the Focus Active. The Focus Active will essentially be a brand new model though. It will be more akin to a crossover than to its hatchback roots.
What about the Mustang?
The Mustang is sticking around for the foreseeable future. Being a sports car, the Mustang occupies a unique position in the Ford lineup.

Soon it will be the only non-truck or crossover that Ford makes outside of the Ford GT Supercar. The future of the Ford GT beyond 2020 remains uncertain.
Should you avoid used Ford cars?
Absolutely not. In fact, a savvy shopper may find that the deals get even better on these Ford cars as people hesitate to purchase. Parts will still be readily available as Ford still has to support these vehicles for warranties, and they still have to support them in other countries where much of the Ford car lineup will still be available.
If you are still concerned, you can always purchase a Ford with an extended warranty, which is something that most used car dealerships provide.
